Villa Bernasconi is one of the most important examples of Art Nouveau style, built between 1905 and 1906 by architect Alfredo Campanini for engineer Davide Bernasconi, who founded the “silk weaving mills” in Cernobbio. The villa is located within the so-called “citadel of silk” , the architectural design consisting of the soft, free and dynamic forms proposes a decorative system that tells the life cycle of the silkworm and the fruits of the mulberry plant, a eulogy to the entrepreneurial activity of the owner. The interior also features numerous Art Nouveau decorations. Today the villa is home to a museum.
